Open Letter to Emperor Bush II

Legitimacy? You're one to talk. -- An Open Letter to Emperor Bush II

====================

I'll give you a hint George... your adventure in Iraq has no legitimacy. You cannot create legitimacy, nor can you bribe your way to
it. Nor can you use force to gain legitimacy. You either have it or you don't. And this time, you won't be able to use the Supreme
Court or disenfranchised black Florida voters to give you legitimacy either.

It is clear to the intelligent people of this planet that Saddam Hussein is not the threat... in fact , it is you who are the
threat. Remember your puerile statement last year?

"You're either with us or against us!" you exclaimed. Well George, the ten million plus people who demonstrated last Saturday it
would appear are resoundingly against you. Guess they must be terrorists too, right? Maybe you should start bombing them too.

You know what else? Let's look at who in this world is actually with you. Only the truly indoctrinated or mentally deficient or
those like yourself and your cronies that directly benefit are with you. I'm sure the leaders of Britain, Australia, Italy and Spain
are all gung ho for war, but look at how many people demonstrated against war in those countries and you will see just how with you
they really are. When the leader of a nation declares he is with you but the people scream that they are not, does that add to your
legitimacy? Or take away from the other leaders' legitimacy?

I'll make it even simpler for you... I know how hard it is for you to think clearly.

This war is wrong.

It does not matter what reasons you come up with. It will still be wrong. You will not go down in history as a liberator of Iraq.
No, you will go down as a second-rate emperor who got impeached/assassinated/outright reviled before even your third year of office.
I would find it amusing if your gross incompetence wasn't endangering so many people in so many places.

Let's look at just a few examples of how ridiculous you and your rationalizations for war are.

The supposed reason for attacking Iraq is to get Saddam Hussein to disarm his alleged chemical and biological weapons. But wait!
Rumsfeld has authorized the use of... wait for it... illegal chemical and biological weapons against Iraqi civilians to achieve this
task. And you wonder why people think you're stupid? If it's wrong for them, isn't it wrong for us? And before you give me that
tired old excuse that Hussein used them on his own people, you should listen to the CIA's own assessment that it was in fact Iran
that did it, not Iraq. And why did you sell these kinds of weapons to Iraq if not to be used? If the people of America knew what
skeletons were crammed into your walk-in sized closet George, they'd string you to a lamp-post. They may yet still.

Then, you have the audacity to say that Iraq is a threat to its neighbours. The only onf of Iraq's neigbours that apparently feels
threatened is Turkey, and only because you're bribing them with billions of dollars to say so. The fact that Turkey is a member of
NATO couldn't be a factor here, could it? Let's also remember that Turkey has repeatedly invaded northern Iraq for years to fight
the Kurds in that region. And no matter how much money you steal from poor Americans and send to the Turkish government, the fact is
that more than 85% of the Turkish population does not want you there. Once again, no legitimacy.

But does the UN Security Council have any legitimacy? You have repeatedly threatened the UN that they will become "irrelevant" if
they don't go your way. Once again, the language of bullies and autocracy. So does this mean that if the UN authorizes an attack
because of your threats that it somehow becomes more legitimate? Only in your world George. And your world is shrinking daily. Never
mind that the UN was designed to prevent nations from pre-emptively attacking other nations, ie exactly what you are planning to do.
And exactly why we fought the Axis in WWII I might add.

I'll repeat it once again so you will understand -- This war is wrong.

There is no way to legitimize an attack on Iraq. However you dress it up, your reasons are wrong and you are wrong. And like the
rest of the sane world, I am proud to say that I am very much against you.
